‘99 Cherokee sport.
Does anyone know what size screw for interior trim panels? What can I get at Lowe’s that would work? Want them to look nice.
thanks.
also still looking for tail light guards.

I found that the black oxide phillips oval head screws from auveco.com resemble the factory screws the closest. You can purchase them from upholsterysupplyusa.com. The two that are needed are the #8 1" (Part # 10167) and #8 1 1/2" (Part # 10171). The site isn't easy to search. Search for "screws" scroll until you find the first "#8 Phillips oval head tapping screws (black oxide finish)". Once you select that screw you can select the screws you need from the drop down menu.

Thinking they vary some in the interior.
Not a ones size fits all thing.
So probably depends on exactly what panels.
And the screws might not all be the same for the same panel on top of that.
This might help.
If you have a Napa near you they should have this big loose leaf binder.
Has all sorts of hardware in it.
I believe there to be trim screws in it to.
The binder isn't pictures but the actual part.
If you have one maybe you can match it up in the book
Another idea is go here:
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/research-249236/
Download the part catalog form the link on that thread.
Now a lot of time there is no part number listed for screws and whatnot.
But sometimes there is. Also sometimes they list the specs.
Knowing the specs might help you find something that you can use in place of a factory screw.

You can go to a pick - a - part and take a variety of trim screws and other fasteners off XJs, ZJs, and other Jeep/Chrysler products of that era. The last time I went, I grabbed enough to nearly fill a 32-oz. large McDonald's cup, and they charged me $2.00. Even if they have a little surface rust you can clean them up with a light touch on a wire wheel on a bench grinder or better yet, a cheap vibratory tumbler (like https://www.harborfreight.com/5-lb-m...ler-67617.html) for 30 - 60 minutes in "green pyramid" media without removing the original black oxide finish, dust them off with a little compressed air, and toss them in a light coat of WD40. Then you'll have genuine OEM spares and replacements whenever and wherever you need them.
