Default intermittent blinkers

To start I have an 88 XJ 4 door 4.0 auto.So about a week ago I was driving home and my blinkers stopped working. It was rather late when I made it home so i didn't deal with it that night. The next morning when I took a look at it the worked just fine. I checked the fuse and it looked fine. Well on the way home from work tonight it did it again for about two miles then the kicked back on.

Anyone ever have to deal with something like this? Where should I start looking?

Thanks and Cheers

I take it the two relays control the blinkers independently. I will give it a try tomorrow. Its my only day off tomorrow so i hope that this fixes it. Is there anything else that could cause this?

I miss read your other post. I will take a look in the morning. Thanks again for your assistance. I will let you know if it works.

My immediate thought was something in the column that was going bad.

If these relays are original thermal relays, they are over 25 years old. You might want to replace them with newer relays. I had one die on me a few months ago, was about $10 for newer style one. The newer style ones are also compatible with LED dash lights.

Well both relays were the factory originals. Ten bucks later both were replaced and everything is working properly.
