Checked all the fuses. Checked the grounds to the block. Cleaned the ground that goes from the firewall to the block. Still nothing.

I got curious, and turned on the lights, and discovered something. The passenger running lights weren't working, even though the fuse for it wasn't burnt out. Anybody have any ideas? The vehicles starts and works fine. Just no gauges and no passenger running lights now.

I'd start looking for a replacement instrument cluster. And, don't put dielectric grease on the pins, it could be part of your problem (intermittent contact from loose fitting pins in the pin cavities).

The passenger running lights power wire probably finally chafed through to an open, that's why the fuse doesn't blow any longer. Check the wiring near the air filter box, and the front lights connector there. This connector has a bad habit of getting corroded.

Damnit... was hoping that I wouldn't have to get a new one.
When I do the instrument cluster diagnostic (holding in the trip button while key's off, releasing after key's on) everything works fine... but if the connectors at the back are screwed, I guess that doesn't mean anything.

I'll check the wiring for the lights after work today. Hopefully I can at least get that sorted out.

The cluster actuator test is a cluster internal test and doesn't rely upon the PCM/CCD Bus. If a/some pin connection(s) is/are loose power, or ground, to the cluster may be lost.

You can get a replacement cluster from a junk yard or on ebay. The dealer will have to reset the odometer to the original mileage for you.

I'll try that then. I know for a fact that the pick a part here has a couple Cherokees the same as mine, I was there a couple weeks ago looking for some trim pieces. I'll go there tomorrow.
