Unhappy intermittent no start with factory alarm

Ok, about a week ago I went to start my 92 Cherokee limited. All dash lights came on but I did not hear the solenoid click from what I remember. I turned the key a couple of times and it did start. a week later same thing. so I checked all battery cables( new battery less than a month ago) and cleaned the connection at both the battery and the stater and solenoid. Still would not start. I came inside to answer my phone when I heard the factory alarm going off. Several years ago, I took it into the dealership to have the factory alarm disconnected because it was going off all the time. The dealership told me that they could not completly disconnect the alarm but they were able to get it not arm when the doors were locked and that the only time I would have to reset by locking and unlocking the door was when the battery was changed or the voltage fell below a certain level. Now back to the no start situation. I was able to reset the alarm and when I tried to start the vehicle again it started. The vehicle sat for the day as I had to go to work. Trying to start the jeep today. I got the same thing lights work, dash lights come on but no starter. I was getting ready to try and bypass the solenoid when the factory alarm started going off. It would not turn off by locking or unlocking the door, so I put the key in the ignition and the jeep started right up. It continues to start, but within 10 to 15 seconds of turning the ignition off the alarm is going off.

This vehicle has been trouble free until now. can anyone help!

This is clearly me right now

I havnt seen this in Jeeps but some times GMs have this problem. It is usually one of two things:

The first is an obvious one. The alarm brain is bad. The solution is to bypass that alarm and go aftermarket.

The second is a temporary loss of voltage can cause it to go off. However being you have check and replaced your electrical system I dont think that is it. Sorry I dont have more information on this issue. You may wanna try taking your neg batt cable off for 15 mins and put it back on to reset the system.

Bes of luck!

Looked at both of these manuals and not sure they fit my application. They seem to be for newer vehicles as they discuss the airbags and the siren. The 1992 factory alarm just used the lights and horn and I don't believe there were airbags offered on the 92 Cherokees.

I would like to know though how do take out the factory alarm since it is never used.

Any help on this would be most appreciated.

Thanks

With my Jeep, you need to dismiss the alarm completely with the key remote in order to turn it off. I haven't found a way around it yet. I have a 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo. My first time the alarm went off, I wasn't able to do much wig turning it off until I read the manual. And when I tried starting it, the Jeep would start but turn off like you're talking about. It's a part of the alarm system.

Sorry Mountian Boy, I hoped it (the manuals) would help.
When you look at the alarm 'box' is there a name/model # on there? Maybe we can find a manual for it. Unless someone else has better info...?
