2000 Cherokee Classic 4.0L 4WD (the Jeep in my profile pic is my old Jeep, not this one)

When I turn the key to ON, its hit or miss whether the dash will light up at all or not, when it does I am able to get the Jeep to start and it runs fine. If i shut it off and then try to start it up again the dash lights will come on like normal and when i try to start it there will be a single clunk/pop sound and it will not start and the dash lights immediately shut off. Trying the key a few more times will not bring the dash lights back on. If i wait about 10 minutes, the dash lights will come back on and i can attempt to restart it, but then at that point it will either make the clunk/pop no start dash lights shut off, or it will start absolutely fine.

I just replaced my bad alternator (seized bearing) and had the battery fully charged and tested and it came back good.

Any ideas why the dash lights would come and go like this? It's clear when the dash lights done come on that theres no power, but i dont understand why it would be sporadic like this, especially after i am able to start it one moment, shut it off, then try to start again and it clunks and the lights go out.
