find a fab shop near you with a pipe notcher...the cutout sections ( notches) look nearly identical to theses pieces. can probably pick up 8 pieces for free/next to nothing.

I usually take my second 'notch' out as a disk from mid-pipe, but yah, they looked a little more round the first time I looked - either way, the dropped chunks from the first couple of these types of notchers http://tube-notcher.com/ would drop suitable pieces, or just have a shop cut them out as small diameter disks.

only reason for a pipe piece, not just hole-sawing a flat plate would be so the curve matches the radius of the shaft. Given that its just to prevent the caps dropping out, no reason you cant spot weld a flat disk 'top, and bottom', then hammer it to the right curve...

$30+ shipping...or fab your own, dpends on what gear you've got. your call.

I have.... It's off one of those manual notchers, not the hole-saw type.

I agree w/ ktm, looks kinda like a waste of $$$ to me when you can just tack your caps in place.

All I know is god help ya if you break an axle joint, that right there would be enough work to make me sell whatever it was...
