Default Issue with 4x4 not working

Figured one problem now I have another one. It seems like this happens after my lift kit. Today I decided to check if my Part-time 4x4 works. So I pulled over put the shifter in neutral and shifted to 4H. Put it in drive, started to accelerate and noticed that as soon as I got on the gas Part time light went off. And when I let out the gas it came back on p. If I was really light on throttle it was on.

I got under the car and in 2wd the front drive shaft turned freely and in 4h it was locked. So the issue is not in the transfer case.

I am thinking it's a vacuum problem? What role that vacuum play in the 4wd on the jeep? I noticed that I have two little vacuum hoses going to the pass side of the axle, what is that for.

Sorry for my noobness i just never had a 4x4 vehicle before.

There is a vacuum disconnect on the front axle on the passenger side prior to I believe its 1995. The vacuum lines engage and dis-engage the half shaft on the passenger side. There are two fixes for it either do some research for a homemade posi-lock, or convert the front axle with a 95 or newer passenger side shaft that requires a new seal. The reason I know is I am going thru the same deal with my 87. Once I find a link or find the part numbers I will let you know.

Great write up on the homemade posi lock. Thank you. After a little bit of research I found the issue. I had no idea how the whole system works but I figured it out now. I am going to go to a junk yard and pull myself another vacuum disco plate and play with that. See if I can make myself a home made posi too, before it starts snowing:-/.

Figured it out. Bunch of crap got stock in theactuator motor on the axle. Cleaned the vacuum nipple and replaced warn out tubes with some rubber hoses. Works great!

Posi-loc is worth the money. You should consider it.
