Jeep 4x4 Problems
Hi,
I have a 99 jeep cherokee classic. I have the 231 t-case (2H, 4H, N, 4H).
For one, there is a clicking noise coming from the front passenger side wheel area. It sounds almost as if something is inside the tire, but I dont think that is the problem. If someone could push in right direction?
Also, the biggest problem is the 4x4. When I engage the 4H on the road (minimal) or dry grass, the 4H seems to work alright. It pulled me up a small incline fine, but when I engage the 4H to go through some snow or slippery surface there is a horrible grinding noise under the hood and the front wheels seem to get no power. Any help or something that could point me in the right direction would be awesome.

simular issue
I too am having a clicking noise at front left tire.
I was out wheeling in and out of 2wd, 4H and 4L all day and it all worked perfect. on the way home I notices a clicking sound that increased speed when I drove faster.
today after work on my way home I was trying to narrow it down but all I came up with was that it ONLY happens in 2wd. as soon as its shifted into 4wd the clicking stops but once I shift back to 2wd it takes a second or two and then starts the clicking again. its like the hub isnt releasing or something? Vac issue??? (I really am not very mechanically inclined)
Im hoping its not a major issue. I really dont want to have to sink any money into this axle cuz Id rather just upgrade but funds are limited at the moment.
If any one has any clue as to what is happening and any advise on repairing the issue I'd greatly appreciate it!!!
thanks
