hey bros and hoes
i need help with my 1989 jeep cherokee 4.0lt 4wd death machine. ive notice that my oil pressure and the battery gauge are at zero when im driving. to even make things worse while im driving it starts to heat up quick. ive change the alternator and the battery! still no good .. i took it to a shop to check the computer for any codes and nothing comes up! no engine check light nothing. im running out of things to do.. i dont want to sell it or part it out.. too show how bad my problem is when i step on the gas it tends to fell like its running on just the battery because my head lights and dash board seems to deem out like draining it idk.. plz i really need help !!
thanks

You must solve your CHARGING problem. If a meter on the battery confirms that your system isn't charging and you've already replaced your alternator and battery, it is likely that the voltage regulator is faulty.
Freshening all of your engine grounds is never a bad idea, especially on a RENIX (87-90) which are more susceptible to ground issues.
Your overheat problem is not related to the above. What is the history of routine cooling system maintenance? A new 195 degree thermostat and a coolant flush would be a good start. Other possibilities include a failing water pump and or radiator. If you replace either the water pump or radiator, replace the other component at the same time.
BTW, you cannot check codes on an 89. There is no mechanism to store codes on RENIX. The only thing you can get is "real time data" and that requires very specialized equipment.
