Jeep Cherokee Engine Light On
Check engine light came on and the local mechanic said it is on because of code P0400. He said this is a dealer reset code that only the dealer can turn off. He called it a "brain fart" code that means nothing and said to ignore it and keep driving.
From looking around on the Internet it appears that code P0400 is for a exhaust gas flow malfunction??? I called a dealer and they claim to know nothing about a dealer reset code. Dealer said it was a exhast admissions code and it needs to be brought in.
Problem: one guys says to ignore and another says it needs to be brought in now for repair.
Any ideas????????

Reset the code and see if it comes back. Read this if it does: http://www.obd-codes.com/p0400. Find a new mechanic.
