I get a bit of a slagging from the members of my local offroading club for keeping mine clean lol

I offroad with a LJ70 Landcruiser and use my Jeep for towing it as well as work in the yard, etc but I love to look after her and keep her nice & clean.

Put a locker in the rear.....it'll make your 4X2 some serious eye candy.

  • Dried mud (soil) will pull moisture out of your expensive tires causing them to dry rot.
  • Dirt on body panels will hold moisture promoting rust.
  • Grease in the engine bay is a fire hazard.
  • Dirt on the engine will act as an insulator making the cooling system work that much harder.
  • Not to mention that working on a dirty greasy vehicle is not that fun...
I'm not **** about keeping her clean but I at least make an effort to keep the crud off. My thought is if someone thinks my Jeep is a mall crawler just because it is clean who cares?
well said sir...I agree. I wheel my DD xj and still try to keep her clean for the same reasons, also I think it looks purty all cleaned up!!
I was interested to hear about the armorall on the tires for the reason of easier to clean mud off and help to condition to prevent dry rot. I never thought of it that way but its very true.

I like to give her a bath every once in a while, but she doesn't seem to run right without a fresh coat of mud.

I think that it's great that you want to "keep it clean". Jeep is not making the xj anymore so you should take care of your ride, they are getting more and more scarce on the road... so clean or not you should take care of your Cherokee!

Nothing wrong with staying clean....As much fun as I've had playing around in the mud, I still like keeping mine clean better. See I'm on pavement

If anyone complains that your Jeep is too shiny, you just send them over to me. My Jeep is even shiny when on the trails.

I like my Jeep clean when it's ON road. I love the compliments on how nice it is. Then I love the compliments on how awesome it does offroad as well. Don't be ashamed to keep your Jeeps clean. It just means you have repect for your appearance going down the road.
