Default Jeep Grand Cherokee 1997 5.2l V8 startup problems?

Hello! We have bought a car, just like the title, but it refuses to start. The car lights, but as soon as the alarm light flashes, it dies.
Since this is a used car, we lack the "wireless key" and can therefore cause some problems with the alarm.
We have tried to cut the purple wire with yellow stripe from the driver's door and then grounded it, as I've read, should work. But no luck.
Probably going immobilizer in with the help of the alarm and breaking the supply of fuel, I think.
Does anyone have any tips how to circumvent this, or where the alarm box can sit so we can pick out of it.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the alarm system is messed up and is killing the engine as a sort of anti-theft measure. Mine did the same. Now I'm sure it varies by alarm system but all I did was (at first) disconnected the alarm module from power. That did the trick.

After I realized how much I hated not having remote doors I re-connected the system and cut the ignition kill switch wire (I found it using the diagram that came in the systems owners manual). That gave me the keyless that ran off of the system but disabled it so it wouldn't kill my Jeep. I would guess all you'd have to do is cut the wire that feeds the cut-off switch and you'll be good to go.

We could still try to give the guy a hand. No Jeep is any better than another. The core knowledge is pretty much the same.

Is it a factory alarm system or an aftermarket one? I've got a few buddies with aftermarket systems them in their cars and they can be a nightmare if not installed correctly. And they are usually really wired in pretty well.

And regardless, there are quite a few people with Grands on here, I'm sure some one will be able to help you. Good luck buddy.

Hi! Thanks for the answers. The car is bought in second hand with this problem. Btw, I'm swedish, so don't get mad about my grammar
Ehm, lets see here. We didn't get a remote key and I think that that's the problem. I've tried that with "lock unlock etc" in all the door but no luck. I've also tried cutting the yellow/violet wire and ground it, but still no sign of life. Any ideas?

Find out the name of the alarm and then see if you can find a wiring diagram for it. This might help eliminate some of the guess work.

Edit- as far as grammar goes, your doing better than most Americans on here, so no worries!
