The factory service manual. They're big money, but worth every penny. I wouldn't even consider something else.

You can probably find a digital copy for much cheaper, but I love having the hardcopy in the shop. Much easier to find things in it.

factory service manual.
Or only copy pages you need from online sources, some are free. my 1990 factory manual covers several models of jeeps, thus I only really need about half or less of the book.
the main thing for regular trouble shooting is a good wire diagram, which the factory book excells at. other stuff is fairly generic for general maintenance, so you may not need the detail of the factory book unless...
of course if you are rebuilding the engine, or axle or such, you will need all the specifications that the factory manual has
Haynes also has a good manual. much less pricey than factory, but not as detailed. it is great for general trouble shooting and such, nut lacks for details on some things (but has nice pictures)
