Default Jeep Misfire

Hey all. I am stumped. I have a 1993 Jeep XJ Sport 4 door, 4x4 with a 4.0l. The other day it started to sputter when under low RPM's during acceleration. It idles fine, but misses when driving on the highway or accelerating slowly. It is a quick miss, then back to fine. It was throwing codes 24, and 51. I replaced the O2, MAP and TPS. Now it just reads code 24 and still has the miss. I replaced the PCV valve and pulled the throttle body and cleaned it on the workbench. I'm stumped here. Anyone with ideas please let me know. Cheers!!

Hmmm. Missing under light load, but not at idle.

This site says it's "24 Improper TP Sensor Voltage".

Could be the wring to the TPS. OR, if you got an aftermarket TPS, it couild just be a bad TPS out of hte box. I'd start by TESTING the TPS, by backprobing the connector. There are plenty of videos on the Tube about it.

But it could also be something simple, like a bad ground. Wander on over to Cruiser54.com and look into his ground refreshing pointers. It's not difficult, it's not expensive (actually, it's almost free), and it can clear up a lot of problems.

Default Fixed!

I checked the wiring and even probed the sensor, which isn't all that easy. I was very skeptical about the forums saying that TPS sensors are bad out of the box in many cases. Well this was one of them. NAPA sold me a bad one. I switched it with a cheapo from O'Reilly's and it was fixed immediately. I had planned on getter a MOPAR one, but this one was in stock and local. The TPS is exactly what I had suspected was wrong and of course threw another $150 in parts at it after the initial fix did not work. So anyone out there that gets a code 24 and a TPS doesn't fix it, get another and try again.
