Default Jeep randomly turns off when driving.

My 2000 cherokee with the 4.0 recently started to just randomly turn off when im driving without any warning and ill have to pull over, put it in park and it will start right up and drive off like nothing happend. Im no mechanic but i like learning to work on my own jeep so I just need some pointers on where to start.

CPS would be high on the list if its never been replaced. Get a decent one (plenty of threads on this to read).

I agree on CPS and would also look at fuel pressure

Definetly should have added this but my fuel pressure was low so I replaced the fuel pump and tank because it had a gash in it and im still losing fuel pressure. I had replaced my fuel injectors a couple year ago with some from k suspension so im wondering if the injectors or fuel pump have antrhing to do with it.

So when it cuts out, is it a surging or just a quick stop on engine power?

Its just a quick stop and the engine dies most of the time. It did it yesterday where it seemed like it shut off but then it came right back on before it completely died.

How long since the crank position sensor has been changed?

Those are the most neglected tune up part. They should be replaced every 100K. You have classic symptoms of a failing ancient CPS

So the crankshaft positiong sensor does show symptoms when they are failing? I read another forums and some guy was saying that they show no signs of failing up and work just fine until the point where they do fail and just stop working.

When the CPS gets hot it fails. When it cools off it works again. Read Ralph's story.
