Jeep running cooler than normal.
Hey guys, I have a 98 Cherokee. I just replaced the water pump, flushed the coolant system out not too long ago, kept it full on Radiator fluid, and for whatever reason I have crap heat and the engine isn't running at it's normal operating temp which is usually between 200-210. I don't know what is causing the problem. Any ideas would help me out a lot.

I changed the thermostat when I bought the Jeep. Granted it was an Autozone Tstat, but it's been just fine since June when I bought the Jeep. The Heater Core I flushed out when I flushed out the whole Coolant system. Could the fact that it is just freaking cold outside be what it is? or the possibility of the Heater Core being bad? Or still think it's the Tstat?...

our Autozone tsat started really bouncing around this past week in the cold, not keeping constant temp. It's coming out as soon as I can be outside.

Just thought I'd keep y'all updated. The heat is better now, checked the radiator. I was about a half gallon low. put it on a hill. filled it up. started it and let the bubbles come out. I just have to get that thermostat now. Then it should all be good. I bought a blower motor from autozone a while back. I think that's why it doesn't blow out very well. should I buy a new one from Mopar? Is that the best place to get Jeep parts?

Make sure to get a 195 thermostat. I just bought a 98 cherokee from a mechanic who replaced the thermostat before I bought it, but it wouldn't reach operating temp. It's almost 100% likely it's your thermostat, when I pulled the one he put in my jeep out it was a 180. Not good for a Canada winter, jeep would barely warm up past 1st tick on the gauge. The thermostat I put in is a generic one from an auto value and it works fine. Costed about 8 dollars. Lot's of people have bought faulty parts from parts stores but that isn't always the case. Always have the option to test a thermostat before install by putting it in hot water and seeing how it functions.
General consensus is that OEM replacement is almost always better but that is up to you. It's a cheap part either way.
