Agreed with Hank, (and others). I ran into a (new to me), glitch. My foxit reader for pdf came up with a warning. "drop the anti missel shield if you want to see this" (maybe not their exact words).

So would the same people who stoked Google with the warnings, be the same people putting the mal-ware in some pdf's? OK that's a bit sinister, but they seem to be saying NOW it's different than it has been for the 10 or 12 years I've been opening pdf's.

Personally, I feel like if you are gonna sell something for $15,000, the book you have explaining how to fix it shouldn't need to end up some "black market" idem. Maybe a salesmen on the showroom floor could explain that.

Yep, these days PDFs can be loaded with tons of crap and older/less secure readers will open all the fun viruses just like Outlook Express did several years ago (remember the ILoveYou and Melissa viruses?). However Foxit also complains about form fields, embedded links, and other interactive doodads.

You'd like fancy IT stuff then. With certain vendors you need an active support contract to get software updates. Such things typically cost 20% of the original purchase price per year. So on a $100k set of gear you're looking at $20k/year for them to grace you with a fix for something they screwed up in the first place, just to keep it working the way it was sold.

Gotchya', I'm pretty green on the software..., but I can wipe my own drive.

For the spendy technical updates on that renix...Cruiser & 5-90 & Laredo..(and the gang), seems to be a better deal than those telecom people or whoever.

That's very good to know. Can you share any tips on a `proper google search'. I for one, could benefit from such information.

My impression of most search engines is that show what you typed and give you what they want you to buy all in .4 seconds

I've found this service manual to come in handy.

Thanks Lordlancifer, Mine is an 87. Wouldn't there be differences I wouldn't even be aware of?

Yes Ron. 87-90 are largely alike. 91 on has lots different electronically mostly, but plenty more as well.

Has anyone used one of these. For the money seems like a good deal unless the graphics suk.

Thanks for the link. Do you by chance have the PDF password so I can download it? Additionally, any luck on something like this for the 2001 XJs? Thanks!

Default 1987-1990 2.5l, 4.0l, 4.2l, 5.9l cherokee/commanche/ grand wagoneer

As far as the renix system goes I've stumbled across this absolute gem of a manual. Very in depth schematics of every nut, bolt, and screw in a jeep from Commanche to XJ to Grand Wagoneers. I have an 87 xj that's missing ALOT of very important pieces and this is more help than anything I've found yet. Hope it helps some of you guys out.
