last night went to start the jeep it started fine and as the rpms started to come back down i could feel it was about to shut off so i hit the gas a little and it came right back to life. It was fine starting in the AM and a few stops today. then tonight i went to started it it did it again and just to see what would happen I did nothing and sure enough i shut off. started it again and it was fine, got gas and it started fine after that.
so what do u guys think the problem is?

when was the last time you cleaned the iac and its mounting hole

 

91 4.0 auto. iac is one of a few parts i havnt done somthing to so thats where ill start.

 

what could be other signs of a worn or dirty iac?

 

high idle,low idle,surging idle

 

will brake cleaner work?

 

better of with throttle body cleaner less harmfull and small tooth brush
