Jeep Won't Start
battery has been replaced
fuel pump has been replaced
the jeep was cranking slow last week.
after The battery and fuel pump were replaced, it fired up quickly
Now when I try to start it its like a sluggish sound and doesnt turn over. Its not the battery. The starter solenoid wires are covered in grime. Could this be the issue?

Also clean and inspect the battery cables. The connectors or the wiring inside may be corroded. Poor connections can also prevent the battery from charging well. If they're the original battery cables on a 92, they are probably rotten and need replaced. If you haven't found it yet, go through the tips at http://cruiser54.com for refreshing all of the ground connections. If the wire to the starter is covered in oily grime, you may have the typical valve cover or oil filter leak and the starter is full of that same oily grime.

It wouldn't hurt the clean the connections at the starter. Me being the electrical type would measure the voltage at the starter while cranking to get an idea of how bad the cables are.

Definitely wire brush all the terminals / connections so they're clean shiny metal and slap it together. A little dielectric grease on the terminals or a light grease coat on the starter gear teeth wouldn't hurt either but I've never personally done anything like that.

thanks for the advice. It fires right up with strength now. Stnow.r must have been failing for a while. It was the stick starter from 1992! Ha!
