Jeep xj 1988 clutch help!!!!!!
I have a 1988 jeep Cherokee chief 4x4 4.0 manual five speed. Now, when shifting gears my jeep shakes badly unless I rev it higher than 1,000 rpm. Does the same thing but worse when I down shift. Please help me and tell me what's wrong and how to fix it. Also can I adjust it? And if so how?

Probably should keep the rev's above 1k to begin with.
Use a touch of throttle to help with a down shift.
Sounds like clutch chatter. Normal for high millage clutches. The fix is a new clutch. I would just chalk it up to a "Jeep thing", and get used to it until it warrants a clutch change.
