Hello everyone, I have a 97 XJ and am installing a rear bumper and I am taking out the old nut strip on the rear right side of it. there are two bolts hanging down that the exhaust hanger attaches to. These bolts seem to be preventing the removal of the old weld nut strip of coming out.

Any suggestions?

Yup exactly, pounded on them with everything I can get.

 

I think the hanger from my '00 is different then your '97 but not sure.
The nut strip is riveted in from the factory.
Usually by now the rivet is long gone though.
If it were me I guess I would just cut off.

 

That what I concluded, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something super obvious
