jiffy lube oil change, sounds like a tractor now
I took my jeep in for an oil change at jiffy lube and now it sounds really tractory when i start it up. They were unable to check the manual gear box because the plug was stripped?
It sounded perfect when i brought it in too.
OH, i also had a larger oil filter on it, now it has a really small one???
What could cause it to sound worse after an oil change?

Check to see if they put any oil back in. My daughter drove her Rav4 for nearly a whole day without oil after a "quickie/cheapo" oil change. They just forgot! My one experience with their kind was an oil change/lube. I watched them skip the front end grease. When I asked about it they said, "Oh, those are all sealed joints." I don' think so! I had to make them pull it back around and lube it.

It has oil. HAHAHAHA Thats funny but not funny. it happened to me once, i almost seized an engine because of it too. As for the oil filter, should it be a small one? When the one i had before was bigger? I just got this cherokee a month ago and am slowly (as I have time) learning about it. I need to know about things that go wrong, things to look for etc.

They probably used a smaller filter because it's cheaper. The only time I use a quick change oil place is if the weather is really nasty cold and I don't want to crawl under my vehicle.
I can buy good oil and a good filter for less than they charge and changing it myself gives me a chance to look things over while I'm under there. If you are equipped with a drain pan, filter wrench and a wrench for the oil drain plug, buy your oil in one of the big jugs so you have a container for the drain oil and do it yourself. It's a 15 minute job.

I go with wix. I mean I've only changed the oil twice since I've had my jeep. First time was with a fram and second was the wix, after I found out how poor frams are. Anyways with the fram about 2-3 times a week I would get a lifter tick for the first couple of minutes my engine was running. With the wix I never ever ever have a lifter tick.

I work at advance auto, I don't know how it is anywhere else, but in northern CO, all the shops i deal with use promotive filters. Purolator makes them, but like said, its $1.00 filters so you know they won't be anything to write home about. I would use a cardboard fram filter before promotive

Probly they used 5w30 of some cheepo oil, thats one problem. Probly that little filter is more of a blockage than a filtering device, problem two. The combo of the two oil related issues leads to a noisy engin and who knows, they may have untightend your exhaust bolts just to be dicks since you made them do more work. Never go back there and get some good oil and a good filter, maybe a grease gun and start doin it your self.
