junkyard axle searching

junkyard axle searching
Looking for a d30 with a 4.10 for a project.
From what I've read, they're pretty common in 4cylinder cherokees. Does every 4 cyl have a 4.10, or just most?
Was at the junkyard for something else today and found a couple of possibile donors. Are there any codes on the donors that would indicate the axle ratio? Fords have it right on the driver door, so it's pretty easy to locate a particular axle without having to crawl under looking for tags etc.
I just picked up a ford 8.8 with 4.10, traction lock (clutched locker). Was able to find it by the door tags and the diff tags.
If there aren't any indicataors on the cherokee body, what's the fastest way to find a 4.10 at the junkyard, given that both wheels are in the air? Is counting rotations the best bet, then opening the case if it looks good and counting teeth?

Other than the rare as bigfoot diesel all jeeps have pretty standard gearing, the only change is for auto or manual. The tag on the axle is about the only place I know to get the axle ratio for XJ's.

I didn't notice any tags on the cherokee axles, but i was there for something else - maybe I'll go back tomorrow.
Just realized that the tags are probably on the rear axles, which would presumably match the fronts.

Pretty sure that all 2.5L XJs came with 4.10s in the axles. I'm not sure about the door tag thing, but if you get the VIN and call up the dealership they'll be able to pull up the build sheet and tell you what ratio the axles are. There should be a tag on the diff cover saying what the ratio is. But without crawling under it, the tire spin trick is going to be your best bet. XJs came from the factory with 4.10s, 3.73s, 3.55s and 3.07s, so count revolutions carefully.

The ring gear has a series of numbers. The last two numbers are the gear ratio.Divide the last number into the first.
i.e.-39/11=3.545454545 or more know as 3.55.
