Default Junkyard bumper

So my local upullandpay has an older Cherokee, probably a 1995 and it has a pretty nice looking bumper on it. I didn't get a good look because it hasn't been put in the yard yet but my question is...

Will a 1995 Cherokee bumper fit a 1999 Cherokee?

No you need 97-01 for the bumper if its a factory bumper,If its a aftermarket off road type then yes most of those are made to fit all xjs.

Front or rear? And what makes it 97-01 only?

I know of the two body styles, but what makes the bumpers themselves so different that they dont interchange? Is it just the character lines (which i have noticed), or do they also mount differently in some way? My 97 needs the rear. Sellers wife backed it into a pole.

Endcaps are different, for one thing.

But when you said "really nice bumper" did you mean "really nice aftermarket bumper"?
