Default just blew my front dana 30.....

yoke bearing went...4wd still works its just making a reallly loud grinding noise....should i attempt a bearing or get a new front...funds are extreamly limited..all imput is greatly app. thx everyone

and does anyone know the name of the bearing that went...it sthe one where the yoke is

is the bering on the axle side or drive shaft side?

I'd call it a pinion bearing but I am no diff expert...Personally I'd say finding a new D30 should be easy enough and cheap enough to make a swap more practical. That's just me as tearing into a diff to replace that bearing is quite a task.

however he said the yolk baring went which makes me think it was the u-joint. thats why I asked which side it was on

its on the drive shaft side the yoke is sitting in the bottom of the pumpkin not even in the middle and gear oil is everywhere

wait so is the yolk and the u joint still attached to each other, and the input to the axle not there?

I bet you his pinion seal went out - he said his 4wd still works but it grinds, and gear oil is everywhere; however, I'm a little confused on what is sitting in the diff...

ill get u guys sum pics asap.....what i plan to do is pull my drive shaft and pull my axels good idea or bad idea for a temp fix

firstimexj it still goes into 4wd but it locks up if i turn the wheel

yes, that would work just fine for a temp fix. I think you could score a used diff. for around $100 or so I would check the forum classified or craigslist. If you never swapped a cherokee front axle, I was surprised its real easy.
