Just In Case
In case some of you RHD XJ guys don't follow the Craigslist thread in the Off-Topic section I wanted to be sure that you are aware of this.
https://glensfalls.craigslist.org/pt...208099120.html
My reading seems to indicate that sourcing certain RHD parts can be difficult so......

Just my $.02. I have made 12 trips to the junkyard looking for XJ parts. I have never seen a right hand drive XJ there.

Seems really awkward that they didn't put the transfer case and parking brake levers on the other side of the center console for RHD

We had a discussion about another RHD in the Craigslist thread.
About whether the consoles are different. I am leaning towards no but know for sure
that the shifter bezel is different. The Transfer Case bezel is not.

I have seen 3 RHD at the yards in the last 4 years. All late 80s. Two in one yard, stripped to almost nothing. Just the drivetrain and dash remain. And another almost complete at another yard. Went back 2 weeks later and it had been stripped clean. Literally just the shell. RHD dont last long, so if you need parts for one or know of one sitting, or even just a lead to one, act fast.

Hoping anybody local enough with a RHD could take advantage of it.

To be fair, I've only ever seen 2 XJ's in the 2 and a half years I've looked.

I go to several pick'n pulls. They list their inventory on their website with the date they got the vehicle. Another heads up to those who go the the JY and second guess themselves on getting something they might not actually need right then. I have spent a lot of time on the jeep forums reading others talk about parts that are not made anymore or that are always gone on donor vehicles. I too have made the mistake of not getting a part I did not actually need only to not find it the next time I visited the same place. The example was a part were I would have had to take the driver's door panel off which I did not want to do as I was running behind on time. The next trip the entire door was gone. I just spent some time in Pennsylvania cleaning out the family home so it could be sold. On my last trip to the JY taking scrap metal, they had just got in a 97 XJ. I asked if I could look it over for parts. I got 6 things that I did not actually need for $40. Two of them were a left rear taillight assembly (wiring included) for $5 and a rear wiper motor and blade for $12. I got the rearview mirror, driver door control assembly, some seat belts, and several other small parts.

Here is the thing.
In my area used parts are getting harder to find.
Also new parts are becoming not available anymore.
So I have been going to into a parts hoarding mode of sorts.
I have been buying extra new Mopar sensors here and there when I feel the price is right.
At the moment I have an extra CPS, Oil, Coolant, and TPS.
Been grabbing extra body parts here and there. Have doors in OK, not great, shape, hood, and a hatch.
Have all sorts of extra interior plastic. My '00 is Camel which is a little harder to find.
Also been hoarding wiring harnesses. Thinking I have all 4 door ones, tail lights, and the little door jamb interior light ones.
There is always that thread that pops up from time to time. The "I can't find a Bosch fuel pump" one.
Some guy local to me was selling a new Mopar one for $150. Said screw it and bought it for stock.
Try finding the fuel hose, tank to filler neck (not the vent hose that is also there) new. Unless some NOS pops up not going to happen.
Hopefully regular fuel line will work for that if and when the time comes.
Also try to find the hatch glass molding for a '97 and up.
Ain't gonna happen.
Oh and it looks like Spectra has gotten out of the radiator business.
So while some might be had still that is not going to be forever so......
