yea you definitely need more room, i have some 6" offbrand housings with hella 55watt xenon bulbs for driving lights, i put some brackets in the holes in the bumper to bring them out a few inches and used the stock wiring and switch in the cab, worked out real nice and they look great, just have to aim them properly. i can get pics at lunch time, im at work haha.

those are just some brackets i found laying around in the garage, think there were in a box of old motorcycle stuff. the only thing that sucks is they are very well protected, but i plan on getting a bull bar or something.

I have an off brand light similiar to posted above that I thought about putting on the front of my XJ. Just placing them up there it appears they will make contact with the grille.

That looks like a nice set up. Where did you find the connector from the factory wiring to hook up to the fog lights? I heard it was in the bumper but cant find it.

Looked at mine last night.. Theres no way without cutting holes in grill, or making some brackets to move them out further

I believe the KC stuff will not bolt up directly to the factory bumper using the factory pre-drilled holes. I think they will hit the grille.

You might have to rig an extended bracket to come forward off the holes to gain clearance for the grille.

I just mounted four on my roof rack and had to fab custom brackets that placed the 1/2" mounting hole about 2 1/4" in front of the rack face.

edit: these are the Day Lighters not the slimline.

I do not believe all cherokees have the harness for the lights. Mine 92 doesn't have a factory switch and I looked in the bumper for the same thing and I don't have any harness at all. But if it were there it should be inside the chrome bumper.

That's also where the outside temp gauge is located if you have an overhead console.

ive looked on mine before and there a empty wire plug on the drivers side near the frame and close to the front bumper... im pretty sure thats where the harness would plug into and then run to the fog lights... but youll need to pull a switch from a jy or something to get it to work i would think... my 03 cummins this all was the case... XJ looks the same to me... maybe have to add a fuse in the box somewhere also? dunno bout that...

DAMN THOSE JEEPS! On my chrysler cars the factory harness has always run right to the area it's supposed to be in. But hey if the harness is there, that's one less thing I have to run wiring for.(until i put lights on the roof)
