Looking good doesn't count. Have you ever removed them, cleaned the posts and cables and reinstalled them securely?

Had the battery load tested?

I was just trying to remember what I saw this morning..other then everything discussed in this thread nothing has been touched on this particular Jeep since I got it.. I've only owned it for 1 month.. And its been in a garage almost every day.

Throwing parts at it is not the way to approach this. Test and THINK your way to a solution.


Yes, sometimes it does make sense to buy parts, when they are basic maintenance items like plugs, cap, & rotor, but just buying whatever sounds suspicious to see if that fixes the problem is an expensive and frustrating way to live.

Pull that starter. 2 nuts, 2 bolts, 2 wires, and a sensor. It takes a whole 5 minutes, get some sand paper and clean the connections till you can see the bare metal, electrons like bare metal and are not to fond of mud and grease. If you have access to a tester test the starter, if it fails replace it if it dosent then continue checking your charging and starting system, oh and #1 thing to check first on a no start xj: see if one of the 3 plugs that go into the CPU are missing, the clips on those are stupid and sometimes come loose.

Update: Hasn't shut of once since new coil and TPS.. Still doesn't start sometimes.. But a quick bump to the Shifter and it fires right up.. N.S.S.?
