Hey I have a 93 Cherokee that is supposed to use the 2 button remote. but again as usual I do not have the remote. is there a aftermarket remote that can be paired to the original board or has anyone put a aftermarket sensor up in the headliner. thanks don't really wanna spend 300 dollars on a fob on eBay so just looking for some different ideas that might make this easier.
Oh yeah that’s great to hear what year was yours that you put that in I heard it’s easier in the later xjs but in the early ones you have to change the polarity or something? Didn’t really understand that thanks
When I did the aftermarket remote (RF) in my '88 (also no fob), I simply patched the lock/unlock wires from the new control unit into the existing lock/unlock relays. I put the control unit under my center console.
While the unit I bought has many options, I only connected the door locks and lights (so they flash). So it was only 6 (or so) wires.
I think your relays are in the PDC. You should be able to patch into the trigger wires on the connection to either door switch behind the kick panel.
Sick thanks I think I found one of Amazon that does positive and negative pulse so that should work for me I will update when I have time to install it!
Do you have any idea if you used the negative trigger or the positive trigger to wire that up
I cant remember, but you will need to look at the circuit diagram so that you know what colored wires in the Jeep need to be attached to the colored wires identified in the kit
That should identify what polarity the Jeep trigger pulse is
ok so I ordered the module to wire it up it has this wiring diagram
so I'm wondering what wires I should use with my Cherokee do I use the negative or positive trigger or how do I find out?
and then also what wire should I hook up to turn on the overhead lights on unlock to the reverse light switch?. thanks
my tired eyes cant read the small print, but as I mentioned (I think) I needed to refer to the actual circuit diagram from the FSM to work it out, and as far as I remember, I only had to choose two wires, all the other wires were the same
I am a qualified electronics technician, which gives me an advantage, one of which is I know to study the original circuit diagram for needed clues
You need to have the FSM, which is a free download on Cruisers website to work on these cars effectively
