keyless entry

I bought mine at Buy.com but I don't see it on their site anymore. I see it on Amazon though. Price is a bit higher than what I paid last year but for about $40 I think it's still a bargain and yes, I'd recommend it.
My installation was relatively simple -- pressing an unlock button opens four doors and a rear hatch together, no extra diode or relay was needed. Of course you could choose to be more selective as to which door to open but that will require adding a relay or two.
Click here to see 712T owners manual
Below is my own note from the installation...
<---------712T-------------><------Jeep XJ----------->
pin#--color-----use------>>><<<<--
H1/1 -- RD --- +12V supply ------- RD ------- C1-7 (ignition switch)
H1/2 -- BL --- 2nd unlock output -- not used
H1/3 -- BK/WT1- domelight input #87A --- not used, maybe later
H1/4 -- BK/WT - domelight output #30 --- not used, maybe later
H1/5 -- GN/BK- all dr lock output-- OR/VT ---- C305-6
H1/6 -- WT/BK- lock #87A normally closed --- not used
H1/7 -- VT/BK- all dr lock input-- chassis ------- GND
H1/8 -- BL/BK- all dr unlk output------ PK/VT ---- C305-7
H1/9 -- VT --- all dr unlk input--- chassis ------- GND
H1/10-- WT --- park lights flash--- BK/YL ---- C201-45
H1/11-- BK --- GND ---------------- chassis -- GND
H1/12-- BN --- horn honk ---------- BK/RD ---- C1-1 (horn switch)
H1/13--GN/BK-- factory alarm disarm ---not used
H1/14--WT/BL-- CH3 output ---------not used
H1/15-- YL --- switched ignition -- DkBL ------- C1-9 (ignition switch)
H1/16-- OR --- ground when armed output --- not used
H1/17-- RD/WT- unlock #87A normally closed --- not used
1. Ignition switch connection to YL line doesn't seem to do anything. I thought that connection enables horn and parking lights activity when key is inserted and turned to ignition without unlocking with a FOB? Parking lights work fine when locking, unlocking, or when pressing the star button, and horn honks when pressing AUX/lock, AUX/unlock, or with the star button.

I am in the middle of my install of a DEI 712t and am totally stumped. I actually wired mine very similar to yours and it's not working - actually I changed it around to look exactly like yours. Tapped wires for ignition harness under drive side dash panel. Ground and power from the same area. Lock and unlock I tapped right after the connector as it leads out of the conduit from the door. What am I doing wrong?? THis is driving me nuts.
When I installed mine, I made sure it was operational on my living room floor before digging into Jeep for installation.

supark if you read my post before taping into the wires will only work if it had factory keyless entry if it didnt then you need to do whats called a 5wire door lock in which case you would need a relay inless the 712t has one built in to tell it will have coming off the harness a purple fused wire -green/black-blue/black-white/black-brown/black
if you dont have those wires then you need the relay i posted a link on how to do it
that guide above for the 712t is for it but its only the "owners guide" its not going to help you you would need the "installation guide" this link is the correct manual

i think those of us with the black orb in the upper console can just order a clicker for that year jeep, and if you unscrew the plate with the orb (its actually the receiver for the remote) there should be a number in it. thats the code for your specific truck. a little google and you should be able to have a clicker working.
heres a link i found for the clicker $63 and comes with instructions.

The orb he is referring to is in the center, overhead console. You'll know what he's talking about if you have one. But I will try to take a picture of mine, either tomorrow or the next day and post if you still want.

Ok yes I believe I have it. I thought it was a seatbelt light thing that didnt work. I had one in a past car. Just figured. I took it out to put up a newer headliner. I got one out of like a 96. I can alway cut it back in or mount it somewhere else. But now I need that link ltlgreenXJ mentioned.

screw a factory keyless entry thats all it is unlock and lock it may honk the horn but it is not a real alarm and pay 65 just for the key fob??wtf
why not just get a basic alarm with shock /door trigger/starter kill/unlock/lock/ light flash and 2remotes with alot longer range for 35bucks and its made by DEI same people that make viper why not get something thats actually functional and puts some security unlike a factory keyless entry

Be sure to disconnect 12V battery negative terminal before you begin the work. I got many of my keyless installation questions answered at www.the12volt.com. Your XJ's more than 10 years older than mine so wiring may be different. Be sure to check wiring diagram for your xj year before connecting.

I just installed a Ready remote car starter/keyless entry in my 97 XJ
I bought a CHR-2 T Harness made by JBS technologies from amazon... All I had to do is unplug the ignition harness and plug the T harness in and hook up to starter/keyless brain....Took 10 min max for the ignition part..
The hood switch cutoff, the brake shutdown and the parking light flash was all I had left and that took about 25min....(could not get to park flash wire)
Actuators were a pain in the.....you know...
My door panels would not come all the way off...So I had to let them hang...
The only info and pics I had of installing in a jeep were to say the least was impossible...
All instructions said to install on supplied bracket vertically... Nope NO go...Then they give you a piece that supposed to clamp to factory lock rod and actuator rod....CLAMP WAS TOO SMALL for factory rod. The clamp would not hold....
What I did was take one of the door panel pop in pins out and use 1 screw to hold the bottom of actuator....
THEN I found my saving grace... I followed the lock rod down to close to the inside door lock and found a plastic loop when I moved up and down it unlock and locked my door...
So trial and error on the size of the rod to actuator....and just bending rod to go in loop...putting a lock flange on rod end and testing movement with long wire and battery and presto...
O my biggest advice is to follow rod all the way in the door and see if you have a loop close...put actuator on it....forget about the rod...
