That is a 30.5x10.6 tire. i had them and they rubbed at full lock and i had to install a 1.5" budget boost to keep them off the fenders....
but the D35 is a crap axle if you go anything over 32's. 32's are about its limit in MOST cases. not ALL cases.

Yep its a Dana turdy five. I wouldn't worry too too much running 30s. Honestly if you plan on wheeling it hard or locking your axles I would find an upgrade. I ran a non c clip with 33s for a year and bent both aftermarket chromo shafts but couldn't for the life of me blow the rear end. I tried and tried hard. I've also seen one blow up with stock tires just pulling out of a parking lot. Its a gamble.

OK, it was funny before I had one.
I would have bought it anyway because the rest of the vehicle is exceptional.
Wheel bearings are serenading me a soft tune and have to figure out what "C-clip" is all about. Imagining that means c-clips (literally) holding the axles in and located in the diff' housing. I would go look for a 8.25 but have to also research the drive shaft length and spline count before dragging one home.

Thanks for the info guys.
I'll keep the Dana 35 for now. I don't plan on going larger than a 30x9.5x15 and I won't be wheeling it very hard. Mainly some trails and camping/exploring.
There is an endless selection of tires it seems. Heck, even a nice pair of Grabber AT2 are out of my budget! This axle should be fine for my current needs.
When I'm ready, a neighbor has a '73 Commando with no motor next to his house that he said if I pull the parts, I can have whatever I want. He said he has no idea what the parts are but being how he is 80 years old, he said "I don't know and I don't care, just get rid of it!"
So maybe in a couple years.
