hey i found a 1998 jeep cherokee laredo that i was thinking about buying and i was wondering if it is an xj or does it fall under a grand cherokee?

If its a Cherokee Laredo then yes its an XJ.

May be best to see a picture.... I see it happen all the time where a Grand is listed just as Cherokee....

Laredo is a trim level and was available on both XJs and Grands.

 

I think that would actually be a Grand Cherokee, I think they stopped making the trim level of Laredo for XJ's in '92.

 

 

They have a Grand Cherokee Laredo and Cherokee (XJ) Laredo. If you can find a Laredo you should pick it up. Their is a good chance it has a D44 in it too! Mine has a dana 44 and other little accents that the laredo came with.
Some of the things mine came with that most didnt come with is:
2 dome lights
bucket seats
center console is different than most.
It had a NP242 but the chain was streatched so i swapped it out for a NP231.
It has chrome door handles
Chrome trim around the doors
And other little things.
Some of these accents are not Limited to a laredo.

Yeah that thing looks like it's in rough condition on the exterior anyways. I personally only like the 2000+ GC look. Or the cherokee xj.

i almost bought a 92 Laredo two days ago.

 

That's cool, I didn't mean they didn't make them in 92, that was the last year they did.
