Default launch shudder

just had transmission flush done at a garage. they used the appropriate fluid but added some bg additives. since then i have a severe launch shudder. fluid full and clean. old was black. no metal in pan or fiber. filter was also changed. old fluid didnt smell burnt. any ideas? 96 cherokee. mail vehicle. trans was supposably overhauled a year ago. this is a customer of mines vehicle. i`m a 22 yr. certified gm tech. i`m leaning to flush was the cause. no issues prior to it. may drop pan and be shur filter was installed rite and put in dex 3 without bg junk. as you can tell, not a fan of additives. oem all the way.

BTW Todd,
Model Year, Engine, Trans, Milage and any other relavent info should be listed first in post. But you really didn't ask a question. Just shared some info.
Let me share my 2 cents worth of info as well.
If by flush you mean "power flush" then it is probably down for the count.
I worked for an automobile manufacturer in the warranty department for a few years.
And learned from various dealers across the country that power flushing an old tranmission is a very bad idea.
A lot of times it dislodges crap that blocks passages.
Not all additives are bad and BG has never caused me or anyone I know a problem. I will agree that most of 'em are suspect.
You might be able to get some more life out of the trans by changing the fluids a couple more times.
Or it could be a waste of time and money. You won't know untill you try.

No worries. Good luck. Hope you can find a reasonable replacement for the customer.

Yes, and not infrequently. Sorry. Bombs away.

This:
old was black
Often as not means a flush will kill the trans. The old gritty fluid was keeping the trans from slipping. Back in the bad old days shady dealers would dump sawdust in the fluid to get a few more miles out of a dead trans for that very reason.
Get the BG out of there, refill with DexIII and cross your fingers...but don't expect much.

How do you feel about changing 3.4L lower intakes? C'mon over, I'm getting tired of doing it, lol. Just shy of 300K miles (impala) and it's leaking again.
Believe it or not, it's still running the factory trans, untouched!
Seriously- is there a better choice for the LIM gasket than OEM (first one) or Fel Pro (current leaker)

I haven't seen anything.
If you click on my username over to the left, then "send a private message to Radi" that should work.

It's always a bad idea to flush any auto trans that hasn't had flushes it's whole life. I've used the BG stuff and generally find it to work as good as you'd expect an additive to work. I NEVER flush auto's, only fluid and filter changes. I'm with the rest, flush with dex3 and pray!

clear the adaptive memory, either with a scanner or by disconnecting the battery terminals and touching them together for a minute...then road test to relearn the shift point values.

Drain and refil with the correct fluid and NO additives before saying anything to the customer.
