Default Leaf spring internal weldnut...what if?

I'm planning on replacing my leaf springs and am preparing for anything. If by chance the weldnut should break free on the front bolt and I have to go inside to cut it out, what grade of nut should I replace it with? 5? 8? I want to have them on hand just in case.

go with 8, might as well spend and extra 40 cents or so for some peace of mind...

You're right...40 cents is small price to pay to prevent a problem. My biggest fear is breaking them off and adding to the work involved. I've been soaking the bolts down with PB everyday for two weeks and plan on hitting them with some heat before I start wrenching.

yeah, I've worked on exhaust systems (think high heat, rust, corrosion, the whole nine yards) quite a bit and I just spray them with liquid wrech real good, let it sit for a night, then a little more Liquid Wrench in the morning, let it sit for ten minutes, then hit it with a blow torch for about 15 or 20 seconds, then I have no problem at all getting them off...

if you find your having a real problem backing the bolts out try for every two or three turns to the left one or more to the right to help clear the rust from the threads and dont forget to take it slow, easy and steady
