FYI Replacing all the bushings with new poly ones when I reassembled was the best thing I did for my comfort level. I had done the front-end version of this job 2 years earlier, so afterwards she drove like the day she rolled off the lot.

This is what I ordered:

2 56005 04 SHACKLE KIT-REAR 84-01 XJ 52000507 25.98
2 56010 10 LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY 84-01 XJ HD 4886187 129.98
1 76058 814 OE REAR BUSHING SET RED 1984-01 XJ KJ02008RE 44.99
2 56004 07 LINK-REAR STABILIZER 52001094 29.98
1 76058 894 SWAY BAR BUSH REAR RED PAIR 84-01XJ KJ05013RE 39.99
I heard the poly bushings are noisy. Guess that's not true....I was thinking of buying them for my leaf spring bushings. Then my sway bar bushings....then so on. But a fellow mechanic at work told me they will be a little noisy. So I bought stock leaf spring bushings and sway bar bushings. So they do ride nice? I know they are supposed to be better quality but I always see them for tuner cars and what not.

I am looking at doing this same thing, what all did you do to the front end?

I replaced all my sway bar bushings. And my rear leaf spring bushings so far. Plan on more. But those were cheap to replace. My XJ rattled and made a lot of noise going over even the smallest bumps. Now its fine. Still a little noise but not bad. Sway bar bushings made a huge difference. I had people say they wouldn't do anything....but they were wrong. Big change. Highly recommended.

Old thread, I know, but I have a 91 sport stock and wondering the same. Can I go with a different set of leaves from a scrap yard for a more heavy duty but w/ minimum height difference??

I have a saggy rear too. Mine look like they are up side down. Im going to try this like hope it works...

Has anyone done this?? I have a extra set of xj springs from a 95. I really don't want any lift, but I figure 1/2 to 1 inch wouldn't be bad since I haul heavy stuff alot. Thats probably why the springs are shot.

Well, I found an article somewhere that it's possible to do a cheap lift with Dakota leaf springs and grand Cherokee coil springs, but since I'm still trying to fix my truck and pay off debt, I'm just looking for a stiffer/stronger rear end, and not interested in the cheap lift till I have money for new shocks and bigger tires...

When you got the springs that gave it a lift, was there anything else you had to do to your jeep for the lift? Or just put the new leaf springs on.
