Leaking fuel injector line.
The Jeep is currently in the shop where they have solved our leaking power steering system by replacing the two related O-rings.
While there - they also determined that the metal fuel injector line (cylinder 1) has a small leak as well. The mechanic (who we know too well at this point - and trust) says that if it were he (and he has the exact same Jeep himself) he would simply cut the line and wrap the two ends with plastic/rubber tubing. I said - do what you would do.
I just did a quick google search and it looks like in the US a new part would run like $60 US. Here it would probably cost me twice that (after shipping).
So - do you think the solution we have decided on is ok ?

Old fart with a wrench
You asked for my opinion so here it is. NO! Not only is the fuel pressure around 50 psi, but it's pulsing rapidly whenever the engine is running. I wouldn't trust it.

It is in the line itself. In fact - it is only because the guy who was working on the car was fastidious in his work that he found it. It was pretty obvious that the power steering fluid was leaking AND that leak was falling directly on the fuel line where it also was apparently leaking (just a little). I don't think the power steering fluid was leaking very long (no real spots in the street). Does the power steering fluid run hot such that it could eat into the metal tubing rather quickly ?
Anyway - a few minutes ago I called the mechanic and asked if they had already completed cutting that line and he said - yes, and it is working great. I told him otherwise I would just bite the bullet and buy a new mopar part - and he said - let's just keep an eye on it for a while...
We live in a world where most people have their cars pressure washed (even the engine compartment) and greased perhaps twice a year. I have to be a little more religious in doing that and perhaps I could detect problems more timely...
