Default learn from my mistakes...

and always make sure to put enough oil on your oil filter gasket when you replace it.





also make sure your drain pain isnt clogged haha. i tell ya, i couldnt catch a break today...




this was the only good part of the day

Nice bumper and yes iv'e had to chisel a filter off took an hour wasn't my fault guy before me over tightened the filter

not even 3k miles, but by the looks of it i had the same reaction haha.

also, i don't think the salty winter roads of WV helped it.

I've had to take oil filters off by jamming a long screw driver in the filter and using that to twist off the filter. damn those quick lube places,....

haha it's been a long time since i had a shop change the oil in my XJ, but the first time thats happened to me. it made the trip to and from school on that filter a couple times, and once in the winter, and i dont know if anyone here lives in this area, but on the highway they salt the roads like theres no tomorrow.

Haven't we all had to stab an oil filter or chisel one off. Sometimes the simplest jobs can be the worst.

totally unrelated question.. but how do u like those BF Goodrich's? i been lookin at new tires and i've heard some mixed opinions on em. PM me if u dont wanna fill up your thread with unrelated stuff..

the strap wrench definitely saved the day. the only reason i used a filter like that is because it was on sale at advance auto. but this time the fram was on sale, i do like them more though because of the hand grip. but i'm a broke college student so i gotta do what i gotta do.

I had that same thing happen last time I changed the oil. PITA it took me almost an hour to get the filter off. Your right though the strap wrench saves the day.
