I fixed my case of this problem by replacing the turn switch (the hazard light switch is attached to this as well) in the steering column. The part can be had for around 30$ new, installation took less than an hour.

Default Electrical issues

I had something slightly similar. Does your vehicle have a tow hitch and electrical relay for wiring of your taillights ????
My vehicle was towed behind an RV for many years and has a little relay
in each taillight. I was having issues with the driver's rear turn signal bulb would blow out at random. Sometimes it would last 2 mos , other times
one day !!! I still think it is the relay in the left rear tail light.
Has not blown out in 2 mos now ..... Other times it would not work and then the same bulb would work the next day !!!

i replaced the flasher relay and it didnt fix my problem (problem being the right signal worked fine but the left activated the hazards in the rear) so i replaced the multifunction switch (part number SW1940) and its good as new. that's the resolution to the original problem

I had the same problem with my 99 Wrangler and your comment on the multifunction switch was spot on for my issue. And the symptoms I was experiencing were: The left signal would work fine until you hit the brakes. Upon hitting the brakes the flasher would click many times quickly, the light on the dash would be solid and not blinking. And all my brake lights would blink.

I first attempted to clean up all my grounding points and that had no effect. I ran down to Auto Zone and picked up a new multifunction switch for $40. I plugged it in and all the issues were solved.

Thanks again for the direction!

Default Heeeelp

So I am having the same/similar issue. When I turn on my right blinker my blinker and tail light both flash on the right side, then just my tail light on the left will blink, not the blinker though. Same issue when I turn on my left blinker but Vice versa. I just replaced my multifunction switch after reading this thread but the problem continues.
