I built a excellent bastard pack out of an extra set of stock XJ springs. I took the two longest from each side and cut the eyes off the top spring as close to the bend on each side as I could. Then I stacked the into the pack under my Jeep accordingly. When it came time for the shortest spring, I opted to replace it with a thicker AAL that came with my RC kit. This was 3 months ago, it has settled at 2.5 inches and has improved the handling issues I was having with bumps. I have a set of blocks, again from the RC kit, cast and shimmed 2 degrees, but won't use them cuz XJ's have bad axle wrap issues I've never been able to solve.

So are blocks all together bad, or just bad if you plan on going wheeling? I just bought a set of Rubicon Moab wheels with 245/75/16 MTR's on them and they are rubbing in the rear slightly. I'm really anxious to get these wheels on, and while I plan on putting on a lift this summer, I was hoping to throw a set of blocks on the rear for now so I could run my new wheels and tires. This is my daily driver, and will not be seeing any offroading any time soon. Based on what I've aready read on this thread I should proabably just hold out for the lift. Any thoughts?

Ive ran lift blocks on every 4x4 ive ever had that i lifted. Of course there are bad things that happen, but you always hear bad news more often than good news. Im also guilty of having 3" aluminum blocks in my 89 xj. Ive had it to the badlands and beat the **** out of it and even drove it home and my lift blocks never fell out.

i ran this jeep with 3" blocks, ive pulled trailers and and put a lot of strain on the drivetrain pullin out stuck trucks and never broke anything (even stock axles). i would never use one bigger than 3" but ill probably use blocks on any 4x4 ill own in the future!(the bottom pic is after i took it through the hardin county mud sling)

um i have a 5"lift 3sup and to2"block never any prob going to be doing it in my other jeep to and i mud the **** out of up and down hill and when i park it at home it flex almost to it max no swaybars but some ppl dont like the lift block idea so its what u want to do in the end

block failure is do to improper instalation and weak worn out spring ,blocks have been around a lot longer that the coil spring spacer kit and they just sit there go figure

At rocky road outfitters they have solid steel blocks. Not hollow aluminum ones.

So I just did 3 in lift blocks in the rear of the jeep because it was sagging and brought it back to normal well I have been getting a hole bunch of crap from my buddy because of it are they really tat bad they say they dont even want to wheel with me now cause they are dangerous

I was thinking of getting some small blocks to fix the slight sag in the rear. After my lift I think the rear is 1/4 to 1/2 lower than the front. Its driving me crazy, what do you guys think?

Get shackle relocations, it will fix 2 things, shackle angle and lift. Blocks will cause excessive axle wrap if wheeled hard. I broke a handful of pinion yokes prior to adding a wrap bar, got rid of blocks, and kept bar, yokes are holding up now.

Yes they have but it's a case of the Cherokee design that makes blocks not work real well. A stock Cherokee suffers from axle wrap real bad. Have someone hold the brakes and give it some gas while your watching the yoke, you'll see it try to wrap. Blocks add pressure to the springs I've seen many snap. Add a leafs and shackles are the best lift.
