2001XJ, How do I stop the rattling of the liftgate? I’ve replaced every part I know to replace except for the rubber water seal. But the back door does not leak. Anybody dealt with this before?

Have you replaced the two bump stops near the taillights?

Those are adjustable in/out.

I recently went through the same frustrating situation. I turned the pin around, adjusted the stops, new weatherseal, even removed the rear plastic cover and looked for loose pieces. Nothing helped so I crawled in the back while my wife drove down our 1/2 mile gravel bumpy road and determined it was coming from underneath on the drivers side. Crawled under and found a loose bolt on the upper shock mount. Tightened it up and no more rattle. Might not be that but worth looking underneath and checking shocks, exhaust, or anything that could move and rattle. Like you I had no leaks and couldn't move the lift gate or make it rattle while stationary. I could have swore the noise was the lift gate, but sounds can be deceiving. Good luck.

They are? I could swear on my '98 there's just a fixe metal piece that sticks out where the rubber mounts.
