Default Little confused

Looking for replacement grommets for the valve cover of my 89xj. Found some but really don’t know what to look for for front and back. The sites I’m looking at do not indicate front or back of valve cover. I need the rear valve cover grommet and the front valve cover grommet. Mine are very worn. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you ijm are they the same for front and back of valve cover? I’m having trouble searching between the two. It doesn’t differentiate between the two.

The grommets are the same. The elbows are different. The rear one has an orifice and the front one is open. If all you can find is the rear one, drill one out and use it in the front.

Here are pics of the front and rear elbows. This is on a '98, FWIW. Yeah, I know the front one weeps.

I am pretty sure that an '89 is different then newer XJ's.
Out of my '88 to '90 parts catalog.

Now it looks like there is 2. Gray and black. Both different sizes.
Now you say there are 2. Front and back. So going with that just buy both and figure out which is which.
But looking at the diagram it almost looks like there is only one grommet. #14. And it could be a different size depending on whatever.
While usually the parts catalogs are pretty clear on things this is one of those instance that they are not that I find from time to time.
This where a picture of your valve cover would be nice. Picture being worth a 1000 words and all. LOL.

CRUISER'S MOSTLY RENIX TIPS

RENIX VACUUM HARNESSES

NOVEMBER 17, 2015 SALAD 19 COMMENTS EDIT

The vacuum harness that attaches to the front of the valve cover and includes the grommet/fitting, and is called the front harness, is Napa part number BK 715-1367 or is a Dorman 46003.

The vacuum harness that is closest to the air cleaner, EGR etc, and is called the rear harness, is Napa part number BK 715-1366 or is a Dorman 46004.

The tube from the rear of the valve cover to the intake manifold is part number BK 715-1365 or Dorman 46005 and comes with the valve cover grommet.

The Throttle Body to MAP hose is no longer available. Click HERE to access a fix for that.
