I had a steel whip 108 inch on my old CJ-7 looked great, then went to a solid fiberglass antenna for my cherokee. Had to mount it to the side since the rear hatch could not open if mounted to bumper.
Better google CB antenna's because I remember reading somewhere years ago that CB and FM antenna's are not compatable and can not be interchanged. Something about how the wire is wrapped around the antenna and I remember that tuning required trimming of the fiberglass shaft to get the correct height when matching the CB with the antenna using an inline meter. Of course with the introduction of the Cell Phone, CB radios are becoming obsolete. Don't see many on the roads anymore. Still have a good time listening to truckers and talking to them when traveling the interstates.

well i dont want a CB, never found a use for them. if the wire is wrapped different, than forget it ill put in a cd player or something. i just dont want to chainge the radio because it is the no options, AM/FM stereo, no tape deck with 2 speakers. nothing worth breaking into the jeep to steal.

I picked up from your original post that you only wanted to use the whip antenna to boost the range of your FM radio, but whip antenna's are for CB radio and believe can't be used for FM reception. The cheapest solution would be to look on e-bay for an AM-FM-Cassette and put your metal music on tapes. Older radios for early 90's jeep's are usually quite cheap since most new jeeps have single and multiple CD players installed.
The old Cassette radios are as easy and unplug the old radio and plug in the new one. No wires to cut or wire adapters needed. I have one of these radio's in my 96 cherokee and would like to put in a CD unit from a Grand Cherokee, but even the Jeep dealer is not sure the radios are a direct fit and could not give me a Yes or NO answer.
