So your going to do everything twice in the span of 2 months? New gaskets will be needed again. Twice the cost. Scrounge up the cash now haha

Yeah, I'd come up with the money now. This is the kind of thing they made credit cards for. I don't love them, but they have their uses.

So let me get this straight. You're going to go through allllllllllll the work of removing the factory junk 0331 head (this is fact, not opinion) to simply slap a new headgasket in there, then bolt the old junk factory head, which will most definitely crack, BACK onto the new headgasket? I'm not sure how that makes sense to you but uhhhhhhhhh

FWIW my cousins head gasket went on his 2000 XJ. He had the head tested and machined, no cracks. Put it back together with a new gasket and 30k miles later it is still good. Not what I would have done, but to each his own. As long as it has been machined and tested you should be fine.

and a friend has a 2000 and has 280k on the original head. no issues. He has taken very good care of the Jeep. Never had overheating issues, and has always had all the fluids changed by the book.
