Looking to soften the ride
When I bought my Jeep it came with a 2" lift. It rides ridiculously rough. I assume the previous owner put super stiff shocks/struts on it.
Looking for recommendations on ways to soften the ride for a reasonable cost.

thanks i'll look into those RS5000. I haven't worked on shocks/springs before, I do brakes, oil change, rotor changes. Any idea how much labor in changing shocks/springs?
Deciding whether to DIY or not.
Btw - do you recommend changing the springs or shocks or both?

start with shocks. and I personally am a fan of white body hydro's (most every lift company makes them) as they are cheap and ride well. do not get nitrogen shocks

found this on hydro vs. nitro:

seems that nitro are better overall but hydro ride softer.

unless your running washboards for miles on end you will not notice shock fade. and I personally love my hydro's. best ride to date. altho like posted OME makes a GREAT shock but you pay for that quality

I looked up Old Man Emu shocks... look like they start around $90/ea. They are also Nitros. Don't want to put too much $$ into the truck. I put about 5-6000 miles on it a year at this pace.
Anyone know which model exactly I may need for a 2" lift? I may want to check out those hydros you mentioned.

could you take pictures of your suspension? and also measurements?
from the top of the axle tube (no brakets the actual tube) to the bottom of the frame rail (no brackets the actual rail)
front will be 6 3/4" stock
rear will be 6" stock
anything more is the lift.
pictures would be helpful

I recently replaced my 2" BB (spacer/Shackle Lift) with a 2" OME Spring Lift. I chose the comfort shocks and springs (the model #s have C). The ride is improved-more control than the factory springs/shocks and I gained a little lift over the 2" BB even though OME advertises 2", it seems to ride a little more like 3" even on stock shackles which I reinstalled specifically for a smother ride. The ride still feels stiff if you are driving a Lexus suv and a Mercedes car as other vehicles. It is simply just not engineered to ride smooth. I would recommend putting some better springs and shocks on it and go out and have some fun off road some where and enjoy the Jeep for what it is.
