Just from the EGR valve for now.
And you better hurry up cuz I'm leaving for a beer tasting real soon.

BD, it's nearly pointless, but so easy to do. You can pinch flat the big vacuum line to the brake booster and see if that does anything. Likewise the large line that comes of the top of the manifold and goes back and clear around and down to the vacuum ball behind the bumper.
I still think a MAP/MAP-tube/fuel delivery issue could be it, but easy enough to rule out something goofy with the vacuum. Yea, idling at 17 is fine, but the above is literally a two minute test.
In your shoes I might try shooting starting fluid in the TB right as I crack it open, see if it snaps right up.

The goal would be to see if it stops it from cutting put. Suppose that would be a split second, or simultaneous shot. Maybe hit the button before the butterfly. Just an easy test. You can use the rest of the can to wash your hands or clean any surface you like. Keep it away from the pos battery post! (that never works out well)
Could it be flooding? Needs a second to "clear it's throat? That exhaust leak is giving the 02 sensor oxygen. That might tell it to max what it can from the 02 signal. Naw. Even if the thing was dead or it's wire waz broke, it would just go to default pulse width. Back to the MAP.

HEY! some "Renix Trivia" If you hammer it all the way to 80% throttle, it will ignore a bunch of sensors and do what it can without them. We have the list.

Hey guys, I'm sorry for falling off the face of the earth. After a long fight with my '88, I started to give up thinking it was over. I want to thank everyone, especially DF and Cruiser, for their input on trying to help me figure this issue out.
I've sat my rig out with a for sale tag for about a month, some nibbles, but no takers. I told them the truth, since I would hope someone would do the same for me. I was going to give up and sell it to a pick n pull this past week, but something told me to give it one last honest effort.
Since then I have moved it back into the garage and removed the hood and gone over every inch of that motor. Top, Bottom, sideways, back ways, feeling like the WONKAvator. I've rechecked everything, cleaned all the connections, visually inspected; however, they same remains... Until today. My wife was sitting in the drivers seat trying to crank it over after the damn thing stalls itself out again. Shes getting upset and I'm still frustrated since I think I'm finally done with it. She starts to get out of the seat and steps onto the brake and I hear this hissss. See, I heard a leak somewhere in the vacuum somewhere but haven't been able to pin point it while I had it outside. (I live next to a freeway and its quite noisy)
FINALLY FOUND THAT STUPID LEAK COMING FROM THE BRAKE BOOSTER GOING TO THE MASTER CYLINDER!!! So, I have her pump it and cranked it over and played with the brake and it magically started! So I press the brake, while it ran, and the was a HUGE play in the rpms. They would ramp up when I pressed down and it would bog down and stutter when I would release it. So, I would like to ask anyone interested if this could be my problem, because I think I'm going to crazy if its not SOME part of the issue.
(Sorry if this was super long, I like to be detailed.)

if its got a starter w/ solenoid that's too close to manifold try wraping it with heat shield. als catalytic converter may be clogged

Supper! ...still I'm a little confused. If the Vac line to the booster is eliminated as a source for a vacuum leak, how does it run? (yea, there will be no vac assist breaks). I hear a hiss inside sometimes, I think it's the air going into the other side if the booster diaphragm as it moves. (you can't "pump" fuel injected, you just turn the key with no throttle...
I did not re-read the thread...hope all is well!
