Loose Center Console!
Hey guys, bought me a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport today!!! I'm so excited to finally be part of the family. So of course there is gonna be a few things to ix up. But I figured it wouldn't be a real used Jeep if it didnt need alittle fixing. But mainly little things. First off I wanted to know how to fix a loose center console. When im driving my arm can move it around alot and its shaky. If anyone has anything, much thanks!!!

The armest part is usually pretty wobbly but if the whole deal is loose there is a mount where the heater vents are under the junk holder in the armrest that is easily busted. Someone made a thread where they fabbed up a metal replacement

I got one even cheaper and easier than the full metal replacement. Which is awesome by the way. I took 2 1-1/4 L brackets from Lowes and bent them out a little bit to match the angle on the posts that were broken off, and then just screwed them down to the posts and the base that they were on.
I had some trouble initially getting my console to seat back down right, but I think i turned one of the brackets around where it was interfering with it. Once i got all the screws lined up and started though, piece of cake, the screws drew the console down tight.
It's still a little wobbly, but its way better than before, i dont feel like if I lean on it that I'm going to break it right off. Took me about a half hour to remove the whole console, do some cleaning under there (gross, thank you p.o), fixing the posts, and then reinstalling.
Good luck!
