How many miles do you have on your Cherokee?

 

197,000 miles still has another 100,000 in her

 

im think i have a good base on mechanical stuff. I only do engine work as a profession, but when it comes to suspension and anything else im at an apprentice level. the last time i messed with suspension stuff was back in 1999 in high school. I think I can lure my buddy over with a case of beer and whiskey.

 

Are you in a rust belt? How much snow and salt does the Jeep see?

It hasnt seen any snow or anything since I bought it. Im in the northwest subarbs of Chicago by Crystal lake

 

If you can do engine work you can do the other stuff. I would say with the miles your Jeep has on it, U-joints and wheel bearing hubs are certainly not going to hurt to replace. Especially if the vehicle has been neglected.

 

A rust belt would be where there is a lot of snow, ice, and winter precipitation. In those places they usually salt the roads and that eats the vehicles up.

Is the hub the only wheel bearing or is there another bearing in the axle housing? I want to buy all the parts I need so I can just make one stop for parts to kmock this out in a day.
