Default Loud hum in rear of 1993 Cherokee

Hello. I am new here and new to owning a jeep. I have a mail jeep, I've had it for 6 months now. It has had alot of problems the most recent is a loud humming noise that comes from the rear of the jeep. It starts as soon as I turn it on and gets louder as the day goes on. I drove it a few weeks ago when it was in the 80's, the noise got very loud. I'm not sure what it could be. Anyone have any advice?

Thank-you!

If it starts humming as soon as you start the Jeep, it may the fuel pump. They tend to have a humming noise at all times anyway, but will get louder as they begin to malfunction. The pump is located in the fuel tank and is not that difficult to change.

If it is the fuel pump, it will probably quit on you as it gets hotter or you put a load on it, such as climbing a long hill or a short, steep one.

Thanks for the information. These poor mail jeeps work very hard. Trying to get this one in shape and keep it that way!
