Default Loud Ticking

So I just finished a total Swap.

Flow Daddy Header, 99+ Intake, 703 Injectors, Higher FPR, 60mm TB

I can here a slight ticking at idle. When you open up the throttle though is sounds like a tractor!

Exhaust Leak? Bad Injector? Lifters? Every thing runs OK its just Really Loud & Really Annoying.

Sounds like an exhaust leak.

This^^^

So you do a bunch of mods to increase fuel and air flow and noise.... Then complain that your Jeep is loud???? You do realize the the MAIN result of airflow increasing mods is more more noise. In comparison the power increases are miniscule.

Double check the header. A lot of times they wont seat properly.

I like a loud exhaust... when its got a good tone...

The Header is a APN style brand new, it's not to big.

But I'm glad to see everyone on the same page. Probably the gasket did not seat properly. Looks like I'll be pulling it all apart again and putting on a new Gasket

I plan to retorque the bolts first, However, is there some kind of external sealant I could spray to help the Gasket Seal without redoing the whole job?

NO sealant!! I'm betting the exhaust manifold is not seating on the head because the intake manifold needs to be filed down.

I'm running the 99+ Intake with the APN Style Header.
I did clearance the APN Header so that it fit, but possibly it needs a tad bit more...

It's not seated is my educated guess.

Which Gasket is the correct one for my application?

FEL-MS93094 - Says it is for 99+ Cherokees

FEL-MS94790 - Works with the 94 Head

Not sure the difference or which one would be the correct one.

94 Head, 99+ Intake, APN Header

94 Head, 99+ Intake, APN Header
I've found that Felpro intake/exhaust gaskets are off register; that is, the holes in that gasket cover up a portion of the intake ports in the head. Mine is a '99 head with a '99 intake. Had to go with the OEM gasket to get it right.

You may want to get a '94 OEM gasket and match it up to the intake and exhaust manifold to make sure the ports aren't being blocked in any way.

Edit: OEM gaskets do not need any sealant, like Permatex Copper spray gasket voodoo sealant.

It might be the design of the header that is causing the noise. I replaced a cracked manifold on an XJ with a different, more header looking design. It sounded a lot different, and not in a good way. No leaks anywhere, just the nature of the beast.

We'll I made a vid. I tried checking for leaks couldn't find anything visually or sound. Also spacing is fine between the header and intake.

In the video I walked behind the jeep and shoved a rag in the tail pipe. Took it out for a few and put it back. You can here the difference. What's the locking sound?

you have a bad exhaust leak and a misfire. the snap sounds like a plug wire arcing somewhere.

I sprayed break cleaner around the intake. Found that it has a leak around the center of the intake at the gasket. Spark plug wires all looked ok.

Would I need to increase the spark plug gap after the mods I made?
