Hey all not sure if this goes here but need help. Yesterday on my way home my volt indicated shows 9, and today on my way to work its still at 9 noticed my lights are very dim but the jeep ran got me into work. So my questions are is it my battery (optama yellow top) or my alt 117a from the factory or something else. I have a blue sea fuse block running my auxiliary lights. That is running content. Any help would be great thanks

Check your grounds, terminals, have the battery/alt. tested at an auto parts store.
Edit: your belt could also be loose

Ya im thinking that getting the battery texted and changed today and load testing if that works well then alt is next.
I have another question my fuse block that is constant hot could that be an issue?

Has the same symptoms. Had the battery and alt tested, both checked ok. Battery was a little low so I replaced it with a bigger version NAPA. Same symptoms occurred again so I replaced the alternator, with a NAPA brand, no problems science then. FWIW.

All depends on what you are using at the same time and the draw on the lights, figure out the power usage of everything you've added, and then figure out stock power usage, and see if you are OK. Likely if you have your Jeep running, stock sized battery, 6 big lights and a decent winch, you are way over 117amp, but if you can figure out the power requirements you may be able to kill 4 of 6 lights and then be ok but you will have to figure it all out.
Double check your grounds now too, if you have new batt and alt, the last think you want is a bad ground or two over working that new alternator and killing it. You can even add a ground or two in the right places to help over the stock grounds, or upgrade stock grounds and redo their connections on frame (new connections, grind frame, seal when tightened against water/elements)
EDIT: Next thread I opened might be of interest to you

Okay have the battery tested show12. 75 amp so I don't think its the battery might be the alternator the store has one its a 120 amp from bosh. Considering I'm running a 117 is this a better deal or do I need to go bigger Thanks

If your aux lights are huge it will cause a drop but I cant see a 4 volt drop. What happens with just headlights on and the heater on full blast? Are you checking this voltage at the battery or relying on the dash gauge? They can be fairly inaccurate. Also your belt might be slipping, They need to be crazy tight. I had a similar problem that was solved by tightening the belt some more.
